Transfer: Man Utd defender Maguire reveals he almost joined West Ham

Manchester United defender Harry Maguire has revealed that he almost joined West Ham United over the summer.

United accepted an offer from West Ham for Maguire, but a contract payoff couldn’t be agreed and saw the move fall through.

Maguire confirmed on Sky Sports: “We couldn’t agree.

“My England career is a big priority for me, but so is my club career. I considered everything, and when I haven’t started in the first four games, it’s something you think about.

“I finished last season with two really good performances for England and I have to keep performing to be selected.

“Listen, I want to play matches, I want to play football. The first four weeks have been tough, because the coach hasn’t chosen me.”
