Transfer window: Empoli in race for Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu

Empoli have made a move for Chelsea defender Ethan Ampadu.

The Wales international is available from Chelsea this month after not being given a shirt number for the new season.

Ampadu enjoyed a positive season last term on-loan with Vicenza in Italy and could now be set to return.

According to The Daily Mail,  Ampadu played every minute of Wales’ Nations League campaign and their World Cup play-off game against Ukraine.

Therefore, he believes he should be one of the first names on the team-sheet for Wales’ fixtures in Qatar.

A deal with Empoli could afford him the opportunity to get the minutes he requires to make his World Cup dream a reality.
