Transfer window: Forest face Everton, Leeds battle for Man Utd midfielder Garner

Interest is growing in Manchester United midfielder James Garner.

The Athletic reports Everton are interested in signing Garner on a season-long loan.

The 21-year-old, who hails from Birkenhead, has just finished an extremely impressive loan spell with Nottingham Forest, where he made 44 appearances and helped Steve Cooper’s side secure promotion to the Premier League. The midfielder has previously spent time on loan at Watford in the Championship as well as the last 18 months at Forest.

However, patience may be required over Garner, with newly appointed Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag keen to assess whether the 21-year-old midfielder is ready to play a part for him at Old Trafford. But another loan, this time to a Premier League club could suit all parties.

Forest are hoping to see Garner return for a third spell, but Everton are among several other clubs, which also includes Leeds United, Leicester City, and Southampton who are monitoring Garner’s situation.
