Transfer window: Liverpool linked with interest in Arsenal winger Saka

Arsenal winger, Bukayo Saka, has been tipped to leave the club in the coming years if Mikel Arteta can’t prove success is on the horizon.

And Liverpool have been linked with an interest in Saka, who has shot to prominence as one of the Premier League’s top wingers.

This season, the 20-year-old has registered seven goals and four assists, the joint-most involvements at Arsenal with Emile Smith Rowe.

His six Premier League strikes in 2021/22 in his best tally in a single campaign to date, and it’s clear his ceiling has no bounds.

But with Arsenal potentially missing out on Champions League football for a sixth successive season, there are questions over whether he will look to jump ship.

And Jurgen Klopp could soon be looking for a long-term replacement for Mohamed Salah, as he just has secured for Sadio Mane in Porto winger Luis Diaz.

Former Liverpool goalkeeper David James believes Saka won’t see the need to part ways with his boyhood club if Arteta can guide them to glory soon.

However, James has suggested a player of Saka’s calibre will want to achieve things soon, rather than relying on the Gunners’ current potential for future success.

He told GGRecon: “With Arsenal, it’s slightly frustrating, isn’t it? For a short while, they looked like a side that should be in the top four and, with a little bit of growth, a side that could be challenging for things.
