Transfer window: Old horse Taye Taiwo, not quitting joins Finnish club

Former AC Milan and Olympique Marseille defender Taye Taiwo is not ready to quit active football after he signed a year’s deal with Finnish third division club Palloilijat.

The contract is effective from January 1, 2022.

Taiwo last played in the Italian fourth division with Sant’Angelo in 1907.

Previously, he had made a short stint in the United States of America, in Palm Beach (USL).

This will be his third stint in Finland having also played first with Helsinki in 2015 and then in 2018 with RoPS.

The experienced left-back played for top Ligue 1 side Olympique Marseille (2005-2011) before he posted two seasons at AC Milan.

He also featured for Queens Park Rangers in the Premier League as well as in Ukraine with Dynamo Kiev and Bursaspor in Turkey.

Taye Taiwo has been capped by Nigeria at U20 level and with the Super Eagles.
