Traore to remain with Wolves after Spurs failed attempt

Adama Traore is closer to signing a new contract with Wolves.

The Spain international is set to be offered terms that take him closer to the highest earners at Molineux, Raul Jimenez and Joao Moutinho, both of whom collect about £100,000 a week.

Wolves are keen to finalise the contract with Traore as the 25-year-old will have only 12 months remaining on his current deal by the end of the season, meaning the risk would grow of him leaving on a free transfer in summer 2023.

Traore was left out of the starting XI for Wolves’ last league game, a 1-0 win at Southampton, but he has quickly become a key man for new boss Bruno Lage in the early weeks of the campaign.

Nuno Espirito Santo was desperate to be reunited with Traore at Spurs after working effectively with him during their time together at Wolves, says the Daily Mail.

But Spurs were unwilling to meet Wolves’ asking price of about £50million and Wolves were never likely to entertain their Premier League rivals’ attempts to take Traore on an initial loan deal, which would have become permanent at the end of the season.
