Troy Parrett set for Eredivisie move

Troy Parrott’s future at Tottenham will be resolved in the next few days, with the door to a first-team return under manager Ange Postecouglou seemingly slammed tightly shut for the Ireland striker, TEAMtalk understands.

Parrott was hoping to break into Postecoglou’s plans after his arrival at the club this summer, but he has not been given a first-team squad number for this season.

An injury ended his hopes of making an impression on Postecoglou in pre-season matches and his prospects did not improve when Tottenham sold all-time record goalscorer Harry Kane to Bayern Munich earlier this month.

Now the Dubliner is eyeing up a move away from Spurs, with TEAMtalk sources confirming a switch to the Dutch top flight is “most likely” for the 21-year-old forward.

Parrott spent last season on loan at Preston after signing a new deal at Spurs, and went on to score three goals in the Championship from 32 appearances.

He also had spells on loan at Millwall, Ipswich and MK Dons over the last three years and stated his hope to force his way into Tottenham’s first team squad this season.

“I want to play for Tottenham so, whatever steps I have to take to get there, I’m willing to do it,” Parrott said earlier this summer.

“I support Celtic and I’ve watched quite a few of their games. He (Postecoglou) seems like a good manager who wants to play good attacking football so we’ll see what happens.”

Parrott’s ambitions appear to be forlorn, however, and the Dutch top flight could be the stage for him try and kick-start his stuttering career.
