Tziona vs Hapoel Hadera: Austin Ejide eyes 4th clean sheet of the season

 

Nigeria goalkeeper, Austin Ejide will be hoping to extend his clean sheets to four this season when Hapoel Hadera visit Sektzia Nes Tziona in the Israeli Premier League on Sunday, Sportinglife.ng reports.

Ejide will be hoping to prevent the strike force of Raz Stein, Edem Shrem and Guy Badash from registering their first goal of the season at the HaMoshava Stadium.

The 35-year-old proved the general saying that ‘goalkeepers are like good wine, the older the better’ as he saved a penalty to help Hapoel Hadera stun

Maccabi Netanya 1-0 last weekend, thanks to an early second-half Didier Koygbenya goal.

Netanya had the opportunity to take a late first half lead via penalty, but Stav Finish’s spot kick was saved by Ejide as Hadera recorded the victory to move to the fourth position on the table.

The 2013 AFCON winner last featured for Nigeria in a friendly match against Scotland in 2014.

The former Gabros International, Etoile du Sahel, SC Bastia and Hapoel Be’er Sheva goalkeeper was named in three FIFA World Cup squads; 2002 in Japan and South Korea, 2010 in South Africa and 2014 in Brazil.

In the 2017/2018 season, the shot stopper kept 27 games and gracefully kept 15 clean sheets to earned a spot for Hapoel Hadera F.C in the Israel Premier League.

The gentle giant is considered a Saviour in the city of Hadera for bringing them back to League 1 after 39 years of being in the Second or Third League.
