Uche Ikpeazu scores on debut for Cardiff debut

On-loan Nigeria born Cardiff striker Uche Ikpeazu left no one in doubt he had come for business when he scored on his debut just eight minute in their match against Barnsley on Wednesday night.

Born to a Nigerian father and Ugandan mother in England, Ikpeazu  who has chosen to represent Uganda at international level  it will be recalled was called up to the Uganda squad by Northern Irish head coach Johnathan McKinstry for two 2021 Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches in March 2020, but the games were postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic in Uganda.

The 26-year-old striker has only mustered three goals in 22 outings for parent club Middlesbrough this term, but he became an instant hit with Bluebirds fans when he tucked away a 71st-minute chance in a game of few clear-cut opportunities.

He will no doubt be hoping to continue in his impressive run when Cardiff face Liverpool in the FA cup on Sunday.

Cardiff City manager Steve Morison is impressed by Ikpeazu’s impressive run and is hoping to earn a good result against Premier League giants Liverpool.
