UCL: Lazio will ‘never give up’ in Champions League – Lotito

Lazio director Enrico Lotito has revealed they will ‘fight to the end and never give up’ in a tricky Champions League draw against Atletico Madrid, Feyenoord and Celtic.

The Biancocelesti are back in the competition group phase for only the second time in the last 12 years, the other seeing them reach the Round of 16 in 2020-21.

“Let’s say that in the Champions League there is no such thing as an easy game,” Enrico Lotito told Sky Sport Italia.

The son of President Claudio Lotito was in Monaco to attend the draw after Lazio finished second in Serie A last season.

“Feyenoord, Atletico Madrid and Celtic are particularly tough opponents. We will give our best in every game to fight to the end.”

Maurizio Sarri has never disguised that he is no fan of European competition breaking up his training schedule and forcing him to rotate the squad.

He struggled with that in the past, so how will the coach handle two such major tournaments.

“We know that it will not be easy, but we are a team who never give up and when there is a defeat, we are accustomed to getting back on our feet to fight to the end,” added Lotito.

Lazio had a dismal start in Serie A so far this season, losing to both Lecce and Genoa.

They were knocked out of the Europa League last season thanks to a 1-0 defeat away to Feyenoord, having beaten them 4-2 at the Stadio Olimpico earlier in the group.
