United fans unveil a banner for Ferguson’s 80th birthday

The Manchester United faithful acknowledged Sir Alex Ferguson’s upcoming birthday ahead of the Red Devil’s Premier League clash with Burnley.

The fans hung a birthday banner over the stands at Old Trafford to celebrate the fact their former manager will reach the milestone age of 80 on New Year’s Eve.

The sign wished Ferguson a happy birthday ahead of Manchester United’s final game of 2021. The banner was also accompanied by chanting and singing directed at the Scotts-man.

The Manchester United fans have nothing but admiration for Ferguson. Under his tenure, United became England’s most successful club – winning 38 trophies, including 13 Premier League titles.

Ferguson was also the manager who first brought Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford – subsequently turning the Portugal international into a superstar.

Ferguson retired in 2013 – much to the fans disappointed. Manchester United have failed to replicate such success following his departure.

Therefore, the United fans take every opportunity they can to show the manager how grateful they are for what he achieved at the club.

Their birthday banner was another example of this. The circulated around the stands at Old Trafford and read: ‘Happy 80th Sir Alex’.

The banner featured a picture of the Scottish manager and was designed on a trademark red felt in honour of the club’s colours.

The Amazon Prime Video cameras captured Ferguson’s reaction – with the 79-year-old beaming from ear to ear as he opened what looked like a small present.

Ferguson was also seen bursting with happiness when Manchester United went 1-0 up against Burnley in the opening eight minutes of the game and finished 3-1 victors.
