USA Baseball Unveils 2024 Collegiate National Team Schedule

USA Baseball has unveiled its 2024 Collegiate National Team schedule, featuring highlights such as the International Friendship Series with Chinese Taipei and the Summer League Tour.

The 2024 Collegiate National Team schedule announced by USA Baseball features the return of the International Friendship Series between the United States and Chinese Taipei, as well as the addition of the Summer League Tour. Chinese Taipei will take on the United States, continuing a series that began in 1987, in a five-game series that will be played at various locations throughout North Carolina, including Cary, Fayetteville, Greensboro and Kannapolis.

In addition, the Collegiate National Team will field a 28-man roster for the Summer League Tour against select teams from the Appalachian League and Coastal Plain League. These games will take place in Pulaski, Virginia and Johnson City, Tennessee, with the Coastal Plain League games scheduled for Cary.

“We are excited to have Chinese Taipei back for a second consecutive summer and to play in front of enthusiastic fans in various cities across North Carolina. We’re also excited to welcome the Coastal Plain League to Cary and travel to two Appalachian League cities as part of our summer league tour.

The summer schedule kicks off with the annual Stars vs. Stripes series at the USA Baseball National Training Complex in Cary on June 26 and 27 at 6:00 p.m. ET.

The Stars vs. Stripes series is an outgrowth of the Collegiate National Team Training Camp, which features 56 of the nation’s top non-draft eligible collegiate players.

The Collegiate National Team rosters for the International Friendship Series and the 2024 Summer League Tour will be announced on 29 June following the conclusion of training camp.

The 21st USA vs. Chinese Taipei International Friendship Series will begin on 29 June at Segra Stadium in Fayetteville, North Carolina, with the second game on 30 June at the National Training Complex.

The Americans and Asians will reconvene at the National Training Complex on 1 July before the fourth game is played at First National Bank Field in Greensboro, North Carolina on 2 July. This will be the fifth time Team USA has played in Greensboro.

The series then returns to Atrium Health Ballpark in Kannapolis, North Carolina, for the second consecutive summer on July 3 for the final game of the five-game series. All five games are scheduled to begin at 6:35 p.m. ET.

Following the five-game sweep in 2023, Team USA leads the all-time series against Chinese Taipei 16-0-4 (84-13-2 overall).

Meanwhile, the summer league tour kicks off at the National Training Complex on 29 June when the USA take on the Coastal Plain League Select Team at 17:30 BST, followed by a rematch the next day at 15:00 BST.

The Stars and Stripes will then travel to Calfee Park in Pulaski, Virginia to take on the Appalachian League East Select Team on July 1 at 7:00 pm BST. The summer league tour will culminate with Team USA taking on the Appalachian League West Select Team at TVA Credit Union Ballpark in Johnson City, Tennessee on July 2 at 7:00 p.m. BST.

Following the completion of their respective schedules, the Collegiate National Team Fourth of July Game will be played at Segra Stadium at 6:35 p.m. BST, with both teams facing off. This is the second consecutive year that the Collegiate National Team will play in Fayetteville on the Fourth of July.

Alabama State’s José Vázquez will lead the Collegiate National Team roster for the 2024 International Friendship Series. A three-time Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) Coach of the Year, Vázquez has more than 20 years of experience in college baseball coaching.

Vázquez previously served as an assistant coach for Team USA and led Alabama State to an NCAA Tournament appearance in 2022, and has posted winning records in every season since taking over the Hornets’ programme in 2017, including an outstanding 41-win campaign in 2023.
