Vardy assures fans on his recovery after hernia operation

Leicester forward Jamie Vardy has reached out to his teeming fans assuring them of his recovery after hernia operation

The Leicester striker, 34, underwent surgery last weekend to fix an ongoing issue.

Vardy shared a picture lying in bed with wife Rebekah – with a GIANT headboard behind them.

The former England man had his bag of prescribed drugs on his bedside table and wrote to his 1.3million followers: “Recovering well.”

The caption may well have been about both him and Becky, who had her leg in a compression sleeve and is competing in the current series of Dancing On Ice.

Plenty of fans commented to send their best wishes and ‘get well soon’ messages.

He won’t be available to face Leeds on Sunday and is likely to miss the home clash with Fulham next Wednesday.

But Foxes boss Brendan Rodgers reckons his star man could be back sooner than first hoped in time to face Wolves on February 7.

Leicester have the FA Cup fifth round visit of Brighton three days later and then take on Liverpool at the King Power on February 13.

Rodgers said after the win over Brentford on Sunday: “The likelihood that it will be a week to ten days maximum before he is back on the training pitch and then a few days more before he is available again.

“He will not lose too much fitness as it is only a minor injury but if we can cope with him at this point he will soon be fit and raring to go.”

Vardy has scored 13 goals this season including 11 in City’s Premier League title push.
