Video: Chelsea legend breaks glass Russian Cup during celebrations

Chelsea legend Branislav Ivanovic accidentally dropped and broke the Russia Cup trophy last night – moments after Zenit had defeated FC Khimki.

Ivanovic is captain of the Russian side and lifted the trophy following a 1-0 win, only to see it slip out of his grasp mere seconds later.

The cup is made of clear glass and shards of the trophy could be seen on the floor as Zenit players looked on in disbelief.

Ivanovic himself managed to see the funny side however and cracked a smile as his teammates attempted to fix the trophy.

Ivanovic is best know for his time with Chelsea and he spent nine years at Stamford Bridge between 2008 and 2017.

In that time, he established himself as one of the world’s best right-backs and won a slew of trophies.

He went on to win three Premier League titles, three FA Cups, the Europa League as well as the Champions League with The Blues.

The 36-year-old joined Zenit in 2017 and has shown no signs of slowing down, serving as club captain and being named in Russia’s Team of the Season this campaign.
