W/Cup  Final: Lauren James set to return against Spain

 

England’s Lauren James who has been dubbed bulldozer following her stamping episode againt Super Falcons ace Michelle Alozie in the round of 16 of the ongoing world cup, is set to return for nail biting final against Spain on Sunday.

James who was banging in the goals for the Lionesses prior to the incident that saw her bag a red card was handed two match ban subsequently by world soccer ruling body FIFA she has already rolled pass as she missed the quarterfinal clash against Colombia which England won 2-1 and the breath-taking semifinal tie which England won 3-1 earlier today against Co-Hosts Australia.

Alozie who was impressive in the Super Falcons run in Australia and New Zealand despite their early exit has since forgiven her James for the incident. Alozie who received a lot accolades for her effort tweeted she understood why James acted as she did in the pressure environment of a World Cup knockout game.

“Abeg, rest. We are playing on the world’s stage. This game is one of passion, insurmountable emotions, and moments. All respect for Lauren James,” she wrote.

It is looking like a year of bountiful harvest for the London babes who are current European Champions as they attempt to add world Cup to their laurels. World Cup defending Champions failed in their attempt to reclaim the title they won in 2019 in France hitting the exit door in the round of 16 the earliest they have left the world cup since inception in 1991.

Lauren James will no doubt be happy to test action again  just before tournament ends on Sunday.  Spain overcame Sweden 2-1 to qualify for Sunday’s Showdown.

Recall that Super Falcons beat the Matildas who have not choice than than to play the third place match, 3-2 in the round group stage to advance to the round of 16.
