Liberia have recorded maximum points with their 1-0 win over the Central African Republic to mount pressure on the Super Eagles in the top of Group C of the 2022 World Cup qualifying series.
Kpah Sherman scored a late winner for the Lone Star Monday.
However, the Eagles still top the group with three points, same as Liberia, but enjoy a better goals difference.
Cape Verde are third in the standings with a point after a 1-1 draw with Central African Republic in their opening game of the series.
CAR are bottom with a point and an inferior goals difference.
Cape Verde host Nigeria later today (5pm Nigerian time) to complete the second round of the qualifying tournament.
After the match, action will resume in October with the Super Eagles facing CAR in a double header, while Cape Verde also tackle Liberia in two games.
