Watford offer West Ham Dawson for £3m

Watford are giving West Ham United the opportunity to make Craig Dawson’s loan move permanent before the January transfer window closes.

West Ham boss David Moyes signed Dawson on a season-long loan in October after missing out on a number of central defenders in the summer transfer window.

However, 30-year-old has excelled at the club, making himself a mainstay in Moyes’ squad.

As a result, Watford was prepared to make his switch permanent as they look to raise mid-season funds.

Watford are asking for a fee of around £3million for the defender who can play as a centre-back or right-back.

West Ham, however, have no obligation to complete a deal during the January transfer window and could hold out until the summer.

Nevertheless, securing Dawson’s signature now could give them the opportunity to free up a domestic loan spot to bring in another player.

Dawson scored his first Premier League goal for West Ham and secured the club’s victory over Crystal Palace on Tuesday.

However, Dawson believes he still has more to offer West Ham during the 2020-2021 season.
