WCQ: Blame Super Eagles for underrating Central African Republic – Pinnick

NFF President Amaju Pinnick has said star-studded Super Eagles lost at home to lowly Central African Republic in a 2022 World Cup qualifier because they underrated the Wild Beasts.

The Central Africans stunned hosts Nigeria with a late winner in Lagos earlier this month.

The Eagles will turn the table against the Wild Beasts three days later in Douala, Cameroon.

However, Pinnick said the Eagles must take the blame for the shock loss.

“We underrated Central African Republic,” Pinnick said in a television interview.

“You pay for failing to take your chances in football.

“It was an unfortunate loss in Lagos, we never expected that. I couldn’t sleep for days.”

Despite the setback, Pinnick restated that Nigeria’s qualification to next year’s World Cup in Qatar is “not negotiable”.
