WCQ: Super Eagles playoffs foe emerges December 18

Nigeria’s Super Eagles will know the African nation standing between them and a slot at next year’s FIFA World Cup in Qatar when the draw for the final playoff holds on December 18.

Ten countries have now progressed to the final playoffs, which is scheduled to hold between March 21 and 29, 2022 on knockout basis.

Interestingly, the Eagles are one of the five seeded teams courtesy of their latest FIFA Rankings and will therefore play the first leg of the playoffs away from home before the reverse fixture.

Other seeded countries:

Senegal

Morocco

Algeria

Tunisia

Unseeded countries:

Egypt

Ghana

Mali

Cameroon

DR Congo

The above tables suggest that Nigeria will avoid seeded countries in the playoffs, but could therefore draw any nation in the unseeded category.

The 2022 FIFA World Cup is expected to hold from November 21 to December 18, 2022 in Qatar.
