We are hosting to set standard for future National Sports Festival – Obaseki

The Executive Governor of Edo State Godwin Obaseki, has promised to host the best games in the history of National Sports Festival in 2020 by providing the best state of the art facilities that will be a reference point for the next thirty years to come.

Obaseki made this known in Abuja during the signing of Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between the Ministry of Youth and Sports and Edo State Government where he revealed that the renovation work at the Samuel Ogbemudia stadium is at 80% completion.

He also pleaded that the National Council for Sports meeting be held in Benin-City 21st February to enable the council members have first hand information on the readiness of the state towards hosting the festival.

Obaseki further stated that the state has started the construction of permanent sports hostels for athletes in the Edo and festival games village where all the accredited athletes and officials for the games will be accommodated

The Governor revealed that the deputy Governor Philip Shaibu has been saddled with the responsibility of hosting a hitch-free festival as the Chairman of Local Organising Committee (LOC).
