West Ham, Spurs to battle for Juventus’Weston Mckennie

Tottenham and West Ham are both interested in signing Juventus midfielder Weston McKennie, according to reports

The 23-year-old initially joined the Old Lady on loan from Schalke in 2020 before making the deal permanent this summer.

He joined the German side from the FC Dallas youth academy in 2016 before leaving for a fee in the region of £18million five years later.

The midfielder was a regular for Juve last season as he played 46 times across all competitions. This includes 18 starts in Serie A.

This season McKennie has made seven appearances, including two in the Champions League against Malmo and Chelsea.

Spurs have been admirers of the player for a while now and were linked with a move for the USA international in the summer.

Italian outlet Calciomercato have reported that Juventus value their midfielder at around €30m. Last month, the outlet claimed his future looks “increasingly distant” from the Serie A side.

They also reported Aston Villa were keeping tabs on the player and suggested either club could make a move for him in January.

And now, the Italian outlet have thrown West Ham into the mix as they look to bolster their squad in the winter window.

The Hammers currently have Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek – who have blossomed into one of the best midfield pairings in the Premier League in the last year or so.

Despite this, David Moyes needs more depth, however, Spurs will likely have more spending power than their London rivals.
