What stats say ahead of LaLiga matchday 35

Levante UD – Real Sociedad

Levante have lost their last two games against Real Sociedad in LaLiga without scoring, after not losing any of the previous four against them (W2 D2) – they have never suffered three straight defeats against the San Sebastian side in the top-flight.

Real Sociedad have won on two of their last five visits to Levante in LaLiga (D1 L2), after failing to win in their first seven away games against Granotas in the competition (D2 L5).

Levante have lost only one of their 10 home LaLiga games played on Friday (W4 D5), 0-2 against Huesca in April 2021, while Real Sociedad have won three of their last four away on Friday in the competition (L1).

Real Sociedad have lost only one of their last 12 visits to teams from the Valencian Community in LaLiga (W5 D6), but it was against Levante, 2-1 in December 2020.

Levante have lost their last two home games in LaLiga, both by the same scoreline (2-3) and they haven’t lost three in a row at home in the competition since April 2021 (3).

Real Sociedad have collected eight points from their last 15 available away from home in LaLiga (W2 D2 L1), after winning only two points from the previous 15 available on the road (D2 L3).

Levante are the LaLiga side with the joint-most losses after opening the scoring this season (GP11 W5 D2 L4) alongside Valencia (GP14 W7 D3 L4).

Levante’s Roberto Soldado has scored six goals in 12 games against Real Sociedad in LaLiga, including two braces at home, both for Valencia in 2011 and 2012.

Aleksander Isak has scored in his two visits at Levante in LaLiga for Real Sociedad, a goal at Camilo Cano in July 2020 and another one at Ciutat de Valencia in December 2020.

Levante’s José Luis Morales has been involved in nine goals in his last five LaLiga games (five goals and four assists) – only Kylian Mbappé has been involved in more goals in the top five European leagues (14, nine goals and five assists) than him since the beginning of April.

Mallorca v Granada

Mallorca have lost their last three games against Granada in LaLiga, as many defeats as in their previous eight against the Andalusian side in the competition (W2 D3).

After winning their first home LaLiga game against Granada (1-0 in 1961), Mallorca haven’t won in any of their following home games against the Andalusians (D1 L3) – they are the opponent against whom they have their joint-lowest win percentage at home (20 per cent) in the top-flight (min. 3 matches) alongside Real Madrid (20 per cent – GP30 W6 D8 L16).

Mallorca have only conceded six goals in a single home game once in their LaLiga history and that was against Granada, in their 4-6 loss in November 1969.

Mallorca have won their last two LaLiga home games and are looking for three successive home wins in a single season in the top-flight for the first time since September 2012 under Joaquín Caparrós (also three).

Granada have won only one of their last 16 LaLiga games (D6 L9), 2-3 against Alavés in March, despite this, they have drawn both with Aitor Karanka as coach.

Granada player Jorge Molina has scored in his last two games against Mallorca in LaLiga (four goals in total), including his only hat-trick in the competition which came in the reverse fixture this season.

Granada’s Darwin Machís has been involved in three goals in his last four LaLiga games (two goals and one assist), as many as in his previous 21 games in the competition (two goals and one assist).

Mallorca coach Javier Aguirre hasn’t lost in his last three clashes against Granada in LaLiga (W2 D1) and his teams have kept a clean sheet in all three, this after failing to score in the first three against Andalusian sides in the competition (D1 L2).

Javier Aguirre has won both of his home games as Mallorca manager in LaLiga and could become the second manager to win their first three home games with Bermellones in the top-flight after Sergio Krešic in November 2001.

Aitor Karanka has drawn both of his games as Granada coach in LaLiga and can equal Mauricio Pochettino as the only coach to have drawn their first three games in the competition in the 21st century (three draws for Espanyol in February 2009).

Athletic Club v Valencia

Athletic have only won one of their last 10 games against Valencia in LaLiga (D5 L4) after winning their previous three against Los Che in the competition, although they haven’t lost any of their last four (W1 D3).

At home, Athletic are winless in their last four games against Valencia in LaLiga (D3 L1), their longest run without a home win against them in the competition since 1992 (GP7 – D3 L4).

Valencia have won only one of their last nine visits to teams from Basque Country in LaLiga, 0-1 against Real Sociedad in September 2020, although they have drawn five of them (L3).

Athletic have won their last two games in LaLiga and haven’t had three wins in a row in the competition since December 2019 with Gaizka Garitano as coach.

Valencia haven’t won in their last five LaLiga games (D3 L2) – they have managed just 10 wins from 34 games in this league campaign, their second-lowest tally at this point in their last 34 top-flight seasons (W8 in 2020/21).

Valencia have won the most points from trailing positions away from home in LaLiga this season (10).

Athletic’s Raúl García has scored three goals in total in his last three games against Valencia in LaLiga but all of them came at Mestalla – he has failed to score in his five games against Che at San Mamés in the competition.

Carlos Soler has been involved in seven of Valencia’s last nine goals in LaLiga (four goals and three assists) – he has scored seven goals from the spot in the competition this campaign and only one player from the side has scored more such goals in a single same season in the competition in the 21st century (David Villa, eight in 2008-09).

Athletic coach Marcelino García Toral hasn’t lost in his last five games against Valencia in LaLiga (W2 D3), his best streak without defeat against the Valencian side in the top-flight.

Valencia coach José Bordalás has lost only one of the nine games he has managed in LaLiga against Athletic (W2 D6), 5-1 in January 2021 with Getafe in his last visit to San Mamés.

Celta de Vigo v Deportivo Alavés

Celta de Vigo have won their last four games against Alavés in LaLiga, scoring at least twice in each of them, after not winning any of the previous four against the Vitorian side in the competition (D1 L3).

At home, Celta de Vigo have only lost 7.7 per cent of their games against Alavés in LaLiga (P13 W9 D3 L1), their second-lowest home loss per centage in the top-flight against current sides in the competition (4.3 per cent, P23 W16 D6 L1 against Osasuna).

Celta de Vigo achieved their biggest win in LaLiga in the last 70 years in June 2020 against Alavés, 6-0 at Balaídos.

Celta de Vigo have lost their last two LaLiga home games, after being unbeaten in their previous six home league games (W4 D2). They could lose three matches in a row at Balaídos for the second time under Eduardo Coudet (four in September 2021).

Alavés have won two of their last three LaLiga games (L1) after winning just one of their previous 19 in the competition (D6 L12); after winning last time out against Villarreal (2-1), they could win two league games in a row for the second time this season, after doing so in October.

Celta de Vigo are the team with the second fewest points earned from trailing positions in LaLiga this season (two), only ahead of Getafe (one); Alavés have lost the second most away games this season after conceding the first goal (12), after Mallorca (13).

Celta de Vigo’s Iago Aspas has scored and/or assisted in each of his last four LaLiga games against Alavés (three goals and three assists).

Alavés’ Víctor Laguardia has scored three goals in 31 LaLiga games this season, his personal record in a single campaign in the top-flight.

Eduardo Coudet has won his all three clashes against Alavés in LaLiga, his best record of wins against a single opponent as Celta de Vigo coach in the competition.

Alavés coach Julio Velázquez will take charge of his first game against Celta de Vigo in LaLiga; he lost his only game in any competition against them to date, 2-0 at Balaídos in LaLiga Smartbank in April 2012 with Villarreal B.

Cádiz CF v Elche

Cádiz have lost their last two games against Elche in LaLiga, scoring once and conceding three in both matches, after not losing in their previous five against Elche in the top-flight (W1 D4).

At home, Cádiz have lost only one of their last nine games played against Elche in all competitions (W5 D3) but it was the game of this run to be played in LaLiga – 1-3 in May 2021.

Elche have won on their last two visits to Andalusian teams in LaLiga, both 1-0, their longest run of away wins against these sides in the top-flight.

Cádiz have lost their last two LaLiga home games, after not losing any of their previous five (W2 D3) – they haven’t lost three in a row at home in the competition since February 2021 (3).

Under Francisco Rodríguez, Elche have achieved eight wins in 19 games in LaLiga (D3 L8), one more than in the previous 48 games in the competition before the coach from Almería’s arrival (W7 D17 L24).

Elche are the team with fewest shots attempted after high turnovers in LaLiga this season (19 – four goals); Cádiz are the team with fewest such goals (one goal, 31 shots), alongside Real Sociedad (one goal, 33 shots).

Cádiz are the team with the lowest average possession in LaLiga this season (39.7 per cent), the second-lowest percentage for a side in a single campaign in the last three seasons after the 33.7 per cent they recorded last season.

Elche’s Fidel Chaves has scored two goals against Cádiz in LaLiga, scoring in his last two games against them in the competition – it’s the joint-most goals he’s scored against any side in the competition (also two against Osasuna and Valencia).

Lucas Pérez has scored a goal in each of his last three LaLiga games – he could become the first Cádiz player to score in four consecutive games in the competition in the 21st century.

Elche are one of five current LaLiga teams against which Cádiz coach Sergio González hasn’t won a game (D3 L1), alongside Atlético de Madrid, Real Madrid, Sevilla and… Cádiz.

Real Betis v FC Barcelona

Barcelona lost 0-1 against Real Betis in the reverse fixture earlier this season; they have never lost both league matches in a top-flight campaign against Real Betis.

Real Betis’ home win rate against Barcelona in LaLiga (29 per cent – W16 D14 L25) is the lowest for the Verdiblancos against any opponent they have faced at least five times in the competition.

If they score in this game, Barcelona will become the first LaLiga team to score 100 away goals against Real Betis in the competition’s history (currently 99, as Real Madrid).

Real Betis haven’t won any of their last three games in LaLiga (D2 L1), failing to score in all three – they haven’t played four or more games without scoring in the top-flight since January 2016 (6).

Barcelona have the second most points away from home in LaLiga this season (31 points – W8 D7 L2), behind Real Madrid (41 points – W13 D2 L2). They are on a longer unbeaten away from home in LaLiga than any other side (13 matches – W8 D5).

Barcelona have scored 16 headed goals in LaLiga this season, more than any other team in the competition, and their best mark in a single league campaign since at least 2003-04 (16 headed goals also in 2014-15).

Excluding own goals, four of Barcelona’s last five goals against Real Betis in LaLiga have been scored by substituteS – only two of the Blaugrana’s previous 41 goals against the Andalusian side in the competition were scored by players coming from the bench.

Real Betis’ Nabil Fekir has been involved in a goal in each of his three games against Barcelona in LaLiga (two goals and one assist), although his team lost all three games – they are the opponent against whom the French midfielder has faced the most times while losing on each occasion.

Barcelona’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has scored seven goals in six away games in LaLiga, scoring those six goals from just 11 shots on target.

After winning three of his first four LaLiga home games against Barcelona (W1), Real Betis coach Manuel Pellegrini has lost his last six home games against them in the competition.

Getafe CF v Rayo Vallecano

Getafe have won two of their last three LaLiga games against Rayo Vallecano (L1), after winning only one of their previous 10 against them in the competition (D1 L8).

Getafe have won only one of their six home LaLiga games against Rayo Vallecano (D1 L4), 2-1 last time out in February – they have conceded at least one goal in each of those six matches.

Getafe have won just one of their last 11 LaLiga games against sides from Comunidad de Madrid, 1-0 v Real Madrid last January (D2 L8), failing to score in eight of them. Rayo Vallecano have lost their last four such derbies in the competition.

Getafe have won just one of their last five home LaLiga games (D3 L1), after winning six of their previous seven at Coliseum in the competition (D1).

Rayo Vallecano have collected seven of the last nine points available to them in LaLiga (W2 D1), after winning only four of the previous 39 potential points in the competition (D4 L9).

Borja Mayoral has scored three of Getafe’s last four goals in LaLiga; he has scored six goals in 14 appearances in the competition this season and is two away from equaling his highest tally in a single season in the top-flight (eight for Levante in 34 games in 2019-20).

Rayo Vallecano’s Óscar Trejo has scored in three of his six appearances against Getafe in LaLiga (three goals in total), with his side winning each time.

Rayo Vallecano’s Radamel Falcao has scored a league-high four goals as a substitute in LaLiga this season (alongside Erik Lamela). The Colombian player has the fifth-best mins/goal ratio of any player with at least five goals in the competition this season (112.5 minutes).

This is Getafe boss Quique Sánchez Flores’ first meeting with Rayo Vallecano in LaLiga (295 games managed to date), failing to win against only two opponents so far (Eibar – P5 D2 L3 and Girona P1 L1).

Rayo Vallecano’s Andoni Iraola collected his second biggest win as a manager in LaLiga in September 2021 against Getafe (3-0), after a 4-0 win v Granada in August 2021.

Villarreal v Sevilla

Villarreal and Sevilla each have three wins in their last nine LaLiga meetings (D3), with both sides keeping three clean sheets in these nine matches.

Villarreal have lost just one of their last six LaLiga games against Sevilla at La Cerámica (W3 D2), scoring in the last four (11 in total – 2.75 per game). If they score in this game, it will be their best scoring run at home against Sevilla in the competition ever.

Villarreal have avoided defeat in their last 10 home LaLiga games (W7 D3), keeping six clean sheets in this period. Indeed, they could equal their best unbeaten run at home in the competition under Unai Emery (his first 11 games at home for Villarreal – W5 D6).

Sevilla have lost just one of their last nine away LaLiga games (W3 D5), while they have drawn more games away from home in 2022 (5) than any other side in the big five European leagues.

The last time Sevilla won from a losing position after conceding two goals in a LaLiga game was in November 2017 at La Cerámica against Villarreal 3-2, thanks to goals from Clement Lenglet, Franco Vázquez and Ever Banega.

Sevilla had 45 per cent of possession in the reverse fixture this season against Villarreal; their lowest percentage in a game that they have won in LaLiga since December 2020, also against Villarreal (43.4 per cent). This was also the game in which Sevilla conceded the most shots in all competitions this season while keeping a clean sheet (16).

Villarreal’s Samu Chukwueze has been involved in six goals in LaLiga this season (three goals and three assists) and he is one away from equalling his highest tally in a single season in the competition (seven in 2018-19, five goals and two assists). After scoring in his last LaLiga appearance against Alavés, he is looking to score in back-to-back games in the competition for the second time, having previously done so in November 2018.

Anthony Martial is one goal away from reaching 100 goals involvements in the big five European leagues (99 – 67 goals and 32 assists), but has a hand in just one goal for Sevilla in eight appearances in LaLiga (one assist against Elche at Sánchez-Pizjuán).

Villarreal’ manager Unai Emery have lost seven of his last eight LaLiga meetings with Sevilla (W1) after winning four of his previous five matches against them in the competition (D1).

Julen Lopetegui could equal Manolo Cardo as the Sevilla manager with the fourth-most wins in the competition ever (61). He has collected 60 wins for Sevilla in LaLiga, while Joaquín Caparrós has the record for the Andalusian side (68).

Espanyol v Osasuna

Espanyol are winless in their last three LaLiga games against Osasuna (D1 L2), failing to score in the last two. They failed to score in three games in a row against the Navarre side in the competition previously between 2002 and 2003 (3).

Osasuna have won in five of their last 11 away games against Espanyol in LaLiga (D2 L4), as many as in their previous 24 visits to them in the competition (D7 L12).

Espanyol are in their longest losing run in LaLiga this season (3, all against Madrilenian sides), while their manager, Vicente Moreno, have never lost four games in a row in the top -flight.

Osasuna have won four of their last eight LaLiga games (D1 L3), one win more than in their previous 17 matches in the competition (W3 D6 L8).

Osasuna have collected 12 wins in 34 LaLiga games this season (D9 L13); their biggest tally at this stage of the season in the top-flight since 2005-06 (W19 D5 L10).

Espanyol striker Raúl de Tomás has scored 15 goals in 31 appearances in LaLiga this season – he has become the fifth Espanyol player to reach this milestone in a single season in the top flight in the 21st century and the first since Borja Iglesias in 2018-19 (17 goals in 37 games).

Ante Budimir has scored in each of his last six appearances in LaLiga (six goals in total), become the first Osasuna player to do so in the competition ever.

Espanyol’s Sergi Darder has been involved in eight goals in his last 10 home LaLiga games (three goals and five assists). The last Espanyol player to provide at least five assists at home in a single season in the competition was Marco Asensio in 2015-16 (5).

Roberto Torres has scored Osasuna’s last two goals against Espanyol in LaLiga, both penalties – he could become the first player to score three penalty goals in a row against Espanyol in the competition since Lionel Messi between 2012 and 2014.

Espanyol’s Vicente Moreno and Osasuna’s Jagoba Arrasate have drawn in their three prior LaLiga meetings, including a 2-2 in October 2019 in the only one for Vicente Moreno to host, as Mallorca boss.

Atlético de Madrid v Real Madrid

Real Madrid haven’t lost in their last eight matches in all competitions against Atlético Madrid (W4 D4), keeping a clean sheet in six of them – it’s their best unbeaten run against the Rojiblancos since 25 consecutive games between 2000 and 2013 (W19 D6); their best ever run without losing in the history of this derby.

Real Madrid have faced Atlético Madrid at Wanda Metropolitano in all competitions on the most occasions without losing (P4 W1 D3, all four in LaLiga). Indeed, they have drawn their last two LaLiga away games against them; they could record three in a row away in the competition against the Rojiblancos in a single stadium for the first time in history.

Real Madrid have lost only one of their last 15 derbies against teams from the Community of Madrid in LaLiga (W10 D4), keeping a clean sheet in 11 of them, while Atlético Madrid have lost three of their last 11 derbies (W6 D2) after losing only two of the previous 40 (W26 D12).

Real Madrid have won their last five LaLiga games on the road, scoring exactly three goals in three of them – they haven’t won six in a row away from home in the top-flight since a run of 13 between February and October 2017.

Atlético Madrid have already lost two matches at home in LaLiga 2021-22 (W11 D4); their highest tally at home in a single campaign in the competition since 2016-17 (W14 D2 L3).

Atlético Madrid have conceded 41 goals in LaLiga this season but have an Expected Goals against total of 34.5 – that -6.5 is the third-highest such differential in the competition this campaign behind Levante (-13.8) and Mallorca (-7.2).

Karim Benzema is in his best scoring run against Atlético Madrid in all competitions (two consecutive games, two goals), while he has scored three goals in his last four league games against the Rojiblancos, just one fewer than in their 33 previous matchups. He has never scored against them in at least two games in a single season.

In the reverse match this season, Vinicius Junior became the first player to deliver two assists in a single game in the Madrid derby in LaLiga in the 21st century.

Real Madrid are the opponent with the most penalties scored against Jan Oblak in all competitions, alongside Real Sociedad (three, excluding penalty shoot-outs). Counting shoot-outs, they have converted all 12 against the Slovenian goalkeeper.

Real Madrid have played 11 games in a row without losing against Atlético Madrid in LaLiga (W5 D6), their best unbeaten streak in a derby with Diego Simeone as Atletico coach. Only in one previous season have Los Blancos won both games of the competition in this Madrid derby with the Argentine in charge (in 2012-13, 2-0 at Santiago Bernabéu and 2-1 at Vicente Calderón).
