When Nadal goes chilling in his £4.5m yacht  dubbed Sunreef 80

Rafael Nadal may have fallen short in his bid to win five straight French Open titles for the second time in his career, but the Spaniard has few reasons to feel sour this summer. ‘

He is among the number of top sports men and women who have one reason or the other to withdraw from the embattled Tokyo Olympics.

While Serena Williams can return to her £5.1million abode in Beverly Hills following her shock first-round exit at Wimbledon, Nadal owns a yacht worth almost as much to enjoy his summer prep.

The £4.5m Sunreef ‘Great White’ is a mansion that moves with the tide, boasting four cabins for its guests, a wet bar, barbecue, hot tub and comes equipped with a roof-deck bar.

As if those amenities weren’t enough, the 80-foot behemoth also boasts a Jet Ski garage and waterfall-fed spa pool, just in case one fancies going for a dip without actually leaving the boat.

Nadal purchased the custom-built Sunreef 80 in 2019 after deciding he wanted an upgrade on his 76-foot Italian MCY 76 motor yacht called Beethoven, which he sold for £2m.

The tennis superstar—who was born on the island of Mallorca—told Forbes he still doesn’t have time to take his yacht that far afield, though he’s hoping that changes soon: “I am going to use the boat most of the time in the Balearic Islands. Keeping up with trainings and play schedules may not give Nadal enough time to explore the world in his super yatch but believes that will happen someday

“Hopefully in the near future I will have the chance to take the boat to other places and discover the world.”

The Sunreef can reach speeds of up to 24 knots (27.6 miles per hour), although with 4,000 square feet of interior living space, the sailing would come secondary for many lucky enough to come aboard.
