Why I want England to win World Cup–Ndidi

Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi is optimistic that England will defeat Croatia in the second semi
final match of the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia on Wednesday and go on to lift the trophy next Sunday.

Nigeria international Wilfred Ndidi  has explained that the exit of Nigeria at the 2018 FIFA World Cup is the reason why he has decided to shift his support to England that he has tipped to win the trophy next Sunday.

But the Nigerian who plies his trade with premier league side Leicester City in London knows that England must overcome Croatia in Wednesday’s semi final clash at the Saint Petersburg Stadium to fulfill their dreams.

“With Nigeria and the other African countries out, I will have to shift my support to England,” he said.

Ndidi is also rooting for leicester teammates  Jamie Vardy and Henry Maguire to shine for the Three Lions.

Ndidi along with Nigeria bowed out of the tournament on June 26 after losing to Argentina 2-1

“(Nigeria’s) win against Iceland brought joy to Nigeria. However our game against Argentina did not go down well, as expected even though we put in our best in that game,” said the player.

England who have defied the odds to get this far last reached the semi final stage of the World Cup in 1990 which Italy hosted in Italy.

The last time England won the trophy was far in 1966 when they hosted.
