Wilder’s Sheffield Utd departure amid boardroom tensions

Chris Wilder will leave Sheffield United after his relationship with the board broke down.

Wilder cast doubt on his Blades future last week when he claimed he did not know if he would remain in charge for next season.

And today the club will announce the diehard Blade has left after five successful years in charge by mutual consent.

The board were locked in discussions with Wilder this morning and an announcement, confirming his departure is expected imminently.

Although Saudi owner Prince Abdullah had publicly backed Wilder and said he would not sack him if the club were relegated to the Championship, the tensions between the manager and the board hit a breaking point.
