Wolves shot-stopper released by Portugal after head injury
Portugal have released goalkeeper Rui Patricio from the national squad because of the head injury he sustained playing for Wolverhampton Wanderers, the Portuguese Federation announced on Saturday.
“The player has not recovered satisfactorily from the trauma suffered while playing for Wolves and will continue his recovery in England,” the Portuguese federation said in a statement.
Patricio was hurt against Liverpool on Monday. The 33-year-old spent a quarter of an hour receiving treatment on the pitch before being taken off on a stretcher.
