World Cup playoffs: Ghana plots Super Eagles fall with new coaches

Ghana’s Black Stars  are leaving nothing to chance in their bid to go past arch-rivals Super Eagles to this year’s World Cup in Qatar after they appointed a new and formidable coaching crew for next month’s final playoffs.

The Black Stars welcome Nigeria to Cape Coast on March 24 and three days later they fly down to Abuja for two epic clashes to decide the qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup.

Former Newcastle United and Brighton manager Chris Houghton is the new technical advisor, while Borussia Dortmund assistant coach Otto Addo is head coach.

Addo also assisted Milovan Rajevac, who was sacked this month.

Former Aston Villa midfielder George Boateng will be the assistant coach along with Didi Dramani.

These temporary appointments by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) are to be approved by the country’s government.

The announcement crashed the GFA website to underline huge local interest in the Black Stars despite their most disappointing AFCON in Cameroon.

The Black Stars management committee has also been re-organised with Vice President Mark Addo as head while former Ghana captains Samuel Kuffuor and Stephen Appiah are members.
