WTT Champions To Be Held in Xinxiang in Early April

World Table Tennis is delighted to announce the addition of another WTT Champions event to the 2023 calendar, slated to be held in Xinxiang from 9 to 15 April. Following the success of the WTT Cup Finals Xinxiang in October last year, the city will once again welcome top players from around the world as they contend for the coveted WTT Champions titles.

The 2022 season ended on a high note with the successful hosting of the WTT Cup Finals Xinxiang, demonstrating not only the city’s capacity in hosting world-class table tennis events but also the people’s passion for the sport. World Table Tennis is grateful for Xinxiang’s efforts and looks forward to another year of joint cooperation in delivering top-level WTT Series events in China.

The event will feature the 32 best men’s and women’s singles players, including Wang Chuqin (China) and Sun Yingsha (China) who will seek to defend their titles from last year. With 1000 ITTF Table Tennis World Ranking points awarded to the winners, WTT Champions Xinxiang is no doubt a crucial battleground for those striving to climb the world ranking order.

Steve Dainton, the ITTF Group CEO said: “This season, the WTT Series returns to Xinxiang – a testament to the trust ITTF Group has in the city. Hosting successive WTT events helps bring global exposure to a city; all eyes will be on Xinxiang once again as it stages a WTT event for a second time. We look forward to another year of working with Xinxiang and see you there in April!”

Xinxiang joins Macao, China and Frankfurt as the three host cities for WTT Champions this season.

Liu Guoliang, WTT Chair of the Board, ITTF Deputy President and Chinese Table Tennis Association President expressed a warm welcome to players heading to Xinxiang: “Fans are still reeling from the spectacular WTT Cup Finals Xinxiang last October, and soon they will be greeted with WTT Champions Xinxiang, another high-level event that is sure to impress and dazzle. Table tennis events are not just battlefields for players, but also carnivals for fans where the best of the sport is celebrated. I look forward to more remarkable table tennis showdown here in Xinxiang!”

Fifteen WTT Series events across four continents have been announced for the 2023 season. More events will be added to the second half of the calendar so stay tuned for more updates.
