WWC: Nigeria a hard nut to crack, says England star Lauren James

Lauren James, who was the star as England thrashed China to reach the knockout rounds of the Women’s World Cup, has warned the Super Falcons will be a tough nut to crack when both teams clash for a place in the quarterfinal of the tournament.

England square up against Nigeria Monday by 7.30am with the winners advancing to the last eight of the World Cup.

Chelsea forward Lauren James has been one of the standout players at the World Cup with three goals and three assists thus far.

“Nigeria are going to be very tough, to be fair every team has been tough, even watching the other games,” cautioned James, whose brother Recce features for Chelsea in the Premier League.

“Teams are catching up with each other and I know that will be another very difficult game.”

Nigeria enjoy a superior head-to-head record against The Three Lionesses have won two of their three meeting with England edging the nine-time African champions 3-2 at the 1995 World Cup in Sweden.
