Kano Pillars young sensation Nasifi Yahyah has expressed joy over the Flying Eagles qualification for the 2019 African U20 Cup of Nations in Niger Republic.

Nigerian side defeated Mauritania 5-0 to go through 6-1 on aggregate, having recorded a 1-1 draw in the first leg away at the Stade Olympique, Nouakchott.

Yahyah scored a brace while Wasiu Alalade, Okon Asuquo and Afeez Aremu netted a goal apiece to make progress to the 15 edition of the completion, having failed to qualify for the previous edition in 2017.

In a chat with SportingLife.ng Yahyah said he and his teammates were poised for success and they will crown their efforts by securing a World Cup ticket in Niger Republic next year.

“It was a great feeling in the team and we are happy for the qualification. We took it upon ourselves that we must qualify, and I thank God that we did the job to make the country proud and happy again. I am happy that I scored two goals in the match on Saturday,” Yahyah told SportingLife

He added: “As a striker it is my duty to score goals and help the team win games. I will continue to give my best anytime I am giving the opportunity to do so. I have confident that with the calibre of players in the team we are capable of going to Niger republic to win the title again and qualify for the World Cup proper. I have to commend our technical crew led by coach Paul Aigbogun for putting everything in ensuring our qualification. ”
