Zidane: Hazard is frustrated about his injury

Real Madrid overcame Real Valladolid 1-0 on Wednesday night, but this was also a day of bad news as it was revealed that Eden Hazard has suffered a fresh injury.

This time it’s not the same ankle issue that has been bothering him all year, as it is a muscular injury in his right leg. Zinedine Zidane was asked about this in the press conference he gave after the Real Valladolid win and said the following: “It’s a different injury, it’s a muscular one. But I can’t say how long he’ll be out for. It happened in the final training session and we thought it was just stiffness, but it turned out it was something more. That can happen. He is frustrated because he was doing well.”

Focussing on the day’s match, Zidane spoke of how Real Valladolid made it difficult. He said: “This was not simple, but the most important thing is to take the three points. We’re going to improve. Remember, we haven’t had a pre-season. We weren’t so great in the first half. Then we made changes, which we’ll always do if needed.”

Despite starting up front alongside Karim Benzema for the second game in a row – the first time that has happened – there were still questions about Luka Jović and whether or not he’ll stay at the club this season. Zidane said: “I can’t confirm anything until October 5th, as anything can happen until then. Right now, he is a member of the squad. I decide the line-ups and that’s that.”
