Zidane tips Ramos to play into his 40s

Real Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane insists skipper Sergio Ramos can play into his 40s.

The 34 year-old defender is off contract in June.

Zidane said, “Sergio Ramos is a special player. His desire is there because he wants to keep playing. Of course he can play until he’s 40, if he feels good each year, like he does at the moment.

“The good thing is that he feels that he can still do it, but we will see each year. The player is the one who decides when he wants to call it a day. There’s no age for it.”

He added: “I don’t know what will happen with his renewal. As a coach I want him to stay here because he’s an important player for us. I want him to remain here to keep playing.
