Zlatan Ibrahimovic appears to confirm new club transfer

Zlatan Ibrahimovic has appeared to confirm his new club will be Swedish side Hammarby.

The 38-year-old is available on a free transfer after deciding to leave LA Galaxy and has been heavily linked with a return to AC Milan.

But the former Manchester United striker has dropped a major hint which suggests he could be heading back to Sweden after posting a picture of Hammarby’s shirt with his name on the back on Instagram.

At this stage, fans are unsure whether this is a publicity stunt or a genuine transfer, while Hammarby have made no official announcement about Ibrahimovic’s move.

Last month, Ibrahimovic fooled fans by hinting at a move to Spain on Instagram but the post turned out to be a promotion for a gambling company.

Tottenham were also linked with a move for Ibrahimovic after Jose Mourinho replaced Mauricio Pochettino as manager last week.

But when asked about a potential move for the striker who he managed at Inter and Manchester United, Mourinho ruled Spurs out of the running. ‘I would say we have one of the top strikers in England,’ Mourinho said on Monday.

‘It doesn’t make any sense of a striker of Zlatan’s dimension to come to a club where we have Harry Kane.’
