Premier League to foot £4m cost for coronavirus testing kits

Premier League faces a significant bill of £4 million for COVID-19 testing kits if they wish to resume the season.

Premier League season to be played behind closed doors in July

Everyone involved with the reopening plans recognises that significant and frequent testing is the only way to ensure footballers and staff, and their families, are safe.

The Daily Mail reports the league is willing to foot the bill for the testing kits that would ensure everyone can get tested twice a week after the resumption of group training.

But there are ethical concerns among medical professionals.

Staff are worried about the way it would look if football is using so many testing kits when the average person or even some healthcare workers are struggling to get tested.

There will be another Premier League shareholders’ meeting on Friday to discuss their plans to resume play to finish out the season.
