2018 World Cup: Amuneke tasked with picking Best Player

.As FIFA officially unveils Technical team

Erstwhile Golden Eaglets’ Coach, Emmanuel Amunike and the rest of the FIFA Technical Study Group (TSG) have been tasked with the responsibility of picking the Best Player at the 2018 World Cup among other keep decisions.

Since its debut in 1966 when England won the World Cup on home soil, the FIFA Technical Study Group has been present at every tournament until date.

The 2018 Mundial will witness landmark innovations such as the use of video assistant referees (VAR) and electronic or communication equipment in the technical area for coaching purposes and player safety.

Apart from Amunike, the other TSG members unveiled by FIFA are Former Brazilian Coach to the USA 1994 World Cup, Carlos Alberto Parreira, Super Eagles manager to the France 1998 World Cup, Bora Milutinović, former AC Milan and Italian defence strongman, Alessandro Nesta and former Scotland manager, Andy Roxburgh and one of football’s finest players’ Netherlands Marco van Basten and they have been tasked with deciding the following award winners:

.Adidas Golden, Silver and Bronze Boots for the leading goalscorers (if two or more players score the same number of goals, the number of assists, as determined by the TSG members, will be decisive).

.Adidas Golden, Silver and Bronze Balls for the best players.

.Adidas Golden Glove Award for the best goalkeeper.

.Young Player Award for the best player born on or after 1 January 1997.

.Fair Play Award (the TSG will determine the ranking at the end of the final competition).

Former Super Eagles manager, Sunday Oliseh served as a member of the FIFA Technical Study Group at the 2014 FIFA World Cup in France.
