Consequently, the NFF Finance Committee wrote back to CAF seeking to know what the money was for,
especially as the body was expecting $2 million, being what was due to Nigeria for participating in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations which held in Egypt, with Nigeria winning the bronze medal, the country’s eighth.

Interestingly, Olajire explained further that the federation wasn’t funded till the end of the competition by anyone, as it was been speculated adding that:” NFF did NOT receive money up to the final of the AFCON. We’re still chasing the balance at Office of the Accountant General of the Federation.”

”We are expecting $2m from CAF, but CAF sent only $800k without a clear statement of what it is for. Is it the prize money or share of TV revenue or what? NFF Finance has written them for clarification. No response yet. So, we can’t jump and be spending the money like that. When we get clarification from CAF, the team will be paid,” Olajire informed Sportinglife in a terse message Friday night.
