2023 AFCON: NFSC congratulates Gusau, NFF, S/Eagles for winning silver

The Nigeria Football Supporters Club (NFSC),  has congratulated the President Ibrahim Musa Gusau led board of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) and the Super Eagles for winning silver at the just concluded African Cup of Nations (2023 AFCON) held in Cote d’Ivoire.

The Super Eagles lost the final narrowly by 1-2 to the host nation, Elephants of Cote d’Ivoire in a keenly contested encounter that could have gone either way.

National chairman of the NFSC, Reverend Sam Ikpea, who spoke with some select journalists on his arrival from Cote d’Ivoire, where he led the supporters club to drum support for the Super Eagles in the four week-long championship, also acknowledged the supports of corporate individuals and organisations that made their trip to Abidjan possible.

Commenting on the Super Eagles, Reverend Ikpea noted that though, prior to the championship, the three-time African Champions were not given the chance to go far, they proved their critics wrong by playing into the final, therefore, deserve a part on their back for making the nation proud.

According to the supporters chairman, playing in a final against host team with over 95 per cent of the crowd solidly behind them was a very tall mountain for the Super Eagles to climb.

Reverend Ikpea noted that the overwhelming support the Super Eagles  received from the supporters club in Cote d’Ivoire won’t have been possible if not for the  supports from  some individuals and corporate bodies.

” On behalf of myself and the Nigeria Football Supporters Club, I congratulate the NFF president Ibrahim Gusau, the board of the NFF and the Super Eagles for emerging as Africa’s second best team. It was a huge performance from the Super Eagles and it was made possible by the board of the NFF under the leadership of Ibrahim Gusau. We’re impressed with their performance and hope they improve in coming competitions.
