2026 W/Cup Qualifier: Warriors to drag Eagles to Kigali

Warriors of Zimbabwe have chosen to host Super Eagles in the 2026 World cup qualifier at the popular Amarhoro Stadium in Kigali.

 Zimbabwe lack approved venue to host the Eagles at home and will now host the Jose Peseiro tutored side on a neutral ground turned home ground on November 20

The Rufaro Stadium, National Sports Stadium and Barbourfields all failed to meet FIFA’s approved standard.

Baltemar Brito’s side will travel to Kigali for their matchday one encounter and will remain there for the clash against the Super Eagles.

Zimbabwe are just returning to international football following an 18-month ban by FIFA.

The Super Eagles will open their qualifying campaign with an home fixture against the Crocodiles of Lesotho on November 13.

Rwanda, South Africa and Benin Republic are other teams in the group. Amarhoro stadium is a popular venue where the Amavubi of Rwanda have hosted many international matches.

It was one of the venues that hosted matches during when Rwanda hosted African Nations Championship (CHAN) in 2016.

CHAN is an exclusive continental championship for players plying their trades at home.
