Commonwealth Games: Nigeria begins quest for honours in boxing, weightlifting

Nigeria’s quest for medals at the ongoing 2018 Gold Coast Commonwealth Games starts today in the boxing, weightlifting and gymnastics events.

In the boxing event, Kazeem Soyoye and Osita Umeh will start their campaigns in the preliminary round of the men’s 60kg and 69kg at the Oxenford Studios.

In the weightlifting, Monica Uweh and Agboro Favour will know their fate on Thursday as they compete in the women’s 48kg and men’s 62kg at the Carrara Sports and Leisure Centre.

Nigeria will be making its debut in the gymnastics event as Fakiyesi Oke take to the mat in the men’s cateogry at the Coomera Indoor Sports Center.
