Super Eagles vice captain, Ogenyi Onazi has allayed the fears of the Super Eagles technical crew and Nigerians on the injury he sustained in Trabzonspor’s 4-0 victory against Kayserispor in the Turkish Super Lig on Saturday.

The player has promised to return to the pitch very soon.

The player provided an update on the status of his injury on his instagram page on Sunday.

He said he suffered a little tightness on his hamstring.

”Another good performance from the team. I would have love to finish the game but had to go out due to a little tightness on my hamstring. But will be back soon by his grace. 🙏🏾 🔴🔵 #ooe20 #9ja17.”

The 25-year-old who has scored twice this season with one assist was replaced by Ugur Demirok in the 28th minute.

Indeed, this will be good news for head coach, Gernot Rohr who is expecting his players to be in tip-top shape for the World Cup.

Just last month, Rohr had expressed worries about Onazi’s fitness this season in an interview with the media.

In November last year, he failed to recover from a groin injury prior to Nigeria’s friendly against Argentina and the second leg World Cup qualifier against Algeria.
