D’Tigers coach, Alex Nwora has been stranded in the U.S as his team suffers their second successive defeat at the ongoing Commonwealth Games here in Gold Coast, Australia.

Mix up in his flight ticket arrangement stopped Nworah from arriving in Australia to take charge of the Nigeria’s senior men’s Basketball team.

At a stage, Nwora was persuaded by the Sports Ministry to pay his way to Australia and get his refunds but the coach was said to have been unable to raise enough funds to buy an expensive ticket to the Gold Coast.

In Nwora’s, coach Mohammed Abdulrahman took charge of the team which yesterday lost their second game in a row, 82-67 to Canada.

Former Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) Sam Amedu has attributed the team’s woeful outing at the Games to shoddy preparation.

“The team would have performed better if the the six home based and six foreign had trained together for a longer time”

The federation camped the players in Australia three days before the Games started.

Even in the loss against Canada, Ike Diogu was impressive by making a game high 29 points with 15 rebounds and assists but unfortunately his efforts were not enough to save D’Tigers.
