Nigeria, DR Congo friendly: Liberation Stadium not ready-Rohr

Super Eagles’ Technical Adviser Gernot Rohr has provided an update on his recent visit to Portharcourt, Rivers state.

The Eagles head coach was at the Liberation Stadium, now renamed Yakubu Gowon Stadium on Thursday to inspect the pitch ahead of the May 28 International friendly against the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He told SportingLife.ng that the pitch was still under repairs.

“We would have to wait a little since they are working on it,” he explained.

On Friday, Rohr visited the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) secretariat to brief the General Secretary Dr. Sanusi Muhammed on his visit and other issues relating to the friendly.

“I was in the office for a meeting today (Friday). They are working on the pitch in PH (Yakubu Gowon Stadium, Port Harcourt),” he added.
