Why D’Tigers failed at Gold Coast- Oyedeji

Former Nigeria basketball captain Olumide Oyedeji, have faulted clams that Nigeria basketball league players have no quality and are not good enough to compete at the world stage.

The Oyo born Oyedeji, said this sequel to the performance of the team in the just concluded Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast Australia were the team finished on the bottom table without winning a match.

The former Orlando Magic and Granada star, faulted duplicity in the selection of players as the main reason rather than the strength of the premier league, because the home based players have achieved a lot in past events.

According to him, ‘’I want to admonish the Nigeria Basketball Federation (NBBF) to simply go about their work rather than branding the Nigeria Basket League as bad’’.

The 2015 FIBA Afro basket ball champion, said that the Afro basket women team won the cup with more than 5 local home based players, same with the men’s team that won the cup back in 2015 for the first time; ‘’At the World Cup qualifiers we had home based players and even in 2015 we had local based players in the all conquering Nigeria team,’’ he concluded.
