Niger Tornadoes FC of Minna have released 18 players out of the registered 37 players in the ongoing Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) mid-season transfer window, SportingLife.ng reports.

The club’s technical adviser Hamza Abara said the players that left the club were not part of his plans.

Abara said the decision to allow unproductive players leave the team was part of the management’s efforts to make the Minna- based side a strong force in the league.

He added that the club has signed six new players with the possibility of bringing in six or seven players before the close of the window.

The Ikoh Allah has risen to the second position on the NPFL table after Abara took over, leading the team to nine unbeaten games.

“There was a speculation going round before our last game against Mountain of Fire and Miracles Ministries (MFM) that we have lost so many players. The truth of the matter was that those players that left were not part of our plans. Majority of them were not picked for matches and there is no point to keep them here any longer. We actually released 18 players and we have new six players in the team already,” Abara said to SportingLife.ng.

He added: “We are looking at a possibility of bringing in six or seven players before the close of the transfer window. We are poised to make a statement with the team this season and by the grace of God we will try our best. I am happy that our fans are happy with the team again.”
