Iwobi’s versatility enables him to adapt to any of the front three roles in attack but he has played through the middle for both Arsenal and Nigeria whenever the likes of Mesut Ozil or Mikel Obi are not available for the respective teams.

I grew up playing through the middle and I love playing through the middle.’ Iwobi said in Lagos on Saturday. ‘However, I play in different positions and will be fine with any as required by the manager but I prefer playing through the middle.’

Iwobi can be said to be following in the footsteps of Okocha, who is regarded as the greatest no.10 that ever played for the Super Eagles and exactly 15years after the former Bolton midfielder served as Ambassador for electronic giants LG, the Arsenal youngster was on Saturday unveiled as the new Ambassador in a three-year deal with the option to renew.

Alex Iwobi is set to make his World Cup debut in Russia 2018 as Super Eagles manager Gernot Rohr is certain to name him in the final 23-man squad to the Mundial on June 4.

Nigeria was the first African team to qualify for the 2018 World Cup and will battle Croatia, Iceland and Argentina in Group D as they bid to become the first from the region to win football’s biggest prize.
