Balotteli attempts to save career trains with 4th div side

Former Liverpool and Manchester City striker Mario Balotelli appears eager to continue playing after he flagged off training with Italian  4th div side Franciacorta.

Balotelli of the why always me fame was released by Serie B club Brescia at the end of last season.

Currently a free agent the 30 year old is looking for a new club and has continued to maintain fitness with Franciacorta, a team who play in the Serie D Girone B semi-pro league not far from his hometown of Brescia

The striker returned to Brescia for the 2019-20 season, but failed to keep them in the top flight of Italian football as had been hoped.

As a result, an automatic additional year was not triggered in his contract and he left by mutual consent at the end of the campaign.

It is reported by Bresciaoggi, a daily newspaper in Brescia, that Balotelli is friends with Alessandro Bertazzoli and Eugenio Bianchini, a player and sporting director at Franciacorta, who invited him down to the club.

He accepted the invitation and is training with the squad while he waits for a suitable offer to continue his playing career.

Balotelli has always been a controversial figure, and he spent four seasons in the Premier League with Manchester City and Liverpool.

He has also played for AC Milan, Inter Milan and Nice, and has an impressive 36 caps for the Italian national team.

He last played for his country in 2018, being called up by Roberto Mancini for the first time in four years, going on to score in a game against Saudi Arabia.
