AFCON countdown: Super Eagles begin final shape-up today in Abu Dhabi

After converging on Abu Dhabi from Abuja, Lagos and elsewhere, fourth title chasing Super Eagles will begin final shape up ahead of the kickoff of 2023 AFCON today. Super Eagles Coach Jose Peseiro hit the UAE  capital with his team of assistants on Tuesday night with a number of players joining from Lagos and Abuja respectively.

Captain Ahmed Musa, Kenneth Omeruo and Olorunleke Ojo were the players who flew out from Abuja, while some others took off from Lagos.

The three-time African champions will spend a week in Abu Dhabi before traveling to Abidjan for the 2023 AFCON finals.

They are expected to arrive Abidjan on Wednesday, January 10 and proceed to five star Pullman Hotel where they will be lodging alongside West African neighbours and perennial rivals Ghana. The Eagles failed to go beyond the round of 16 at the last edition held in Cameroon and will be hoping not only to surpass that but realise long dream of winning a fourth title afte previous ones won in 1980, 1994 and 2013.
