AFCON friendly: Madagascar draw 3-3 in Luxembourg

As part of preparations for Madagascar’s first appearance at the African Cup of Nations, The Bareas on Sunday settled for a 3-3 draw against European minnows, Luxembourg  at Josy Barthel Stadium, Luxembourg.

Madagascar, drawn in group B with Nigeria, Burundi and Guinea, were leading  3-1 with goals from Voavy Paulin, Faneva Ima Andriatsima and Carolus Andriamatsinoro before the Luxembourgers, ranked , ranked 86th in the world, equalized in the last minutes of play.
Vincent Thill opened scoring for Luxembourg in the 2nd minute before Voavy equalised in the 35th and  Faneva Ima gave the East Africans the lead two minutes later.
Carolus scored Madagascar’s third in the 62nd minute before the Nicolas Dupuis-coached side allowed two late goals from Luxembourg’s Vahid Selimovic and Laurent Jans to draw the game level.

Madagascar will face Kenya in France on Friday, June 7 in their next friendly match. The team will then return to Madagascar to meet the Malagasy public before the finals then travel to Morocco for the last leg of their preparations where they will face Mauritania.Madagascar will play against the Super Eagles in their last group game at the Alexandria Stadium on 30th June.
