AFCON U-20: Flying Eagles top Group A after defeating Burundi 

 

Nigeria’s Flying Eagles shot to the top of Group A courtesy of a 2-0 defeat of Burundi which kick started their 2019 U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) campaign in Niger on Saturday.

Yahaya scored Nigeria’s opening goal

It was an easy one for the Nigeria side who dominated the game from the beginning to the end.

The U-20 side handled by Paul Aigbogun scored both goals in the second half after a scoreless first half.

Denmark-based striker Nazifi Yahaya headed home Nigeria’s first goal in the 55th minute while substitute Maxwell Effiom wrapped it up in the 70th minute courtesy of a brilliant solo goal.

In the opening match of the group, Hosts Niger drew 1-1 with South Africa.

Nigeria will face South Africa in their next group game while Burundi face Niger.
