African Games: Team Nigeria on multiple gold medal list

Introducing the first gold medallist from Team Nigeria at the 2023 African Games.

In the men’s singles badminton final, a match between two Nigerians was sure to be memorable. Opeyori, the reigning champion, overcome a set down to defeat his countryman Godwin Olofua 2-1 and earn the gold medal.

They’ll be back for the Doubles championship match, where they’ll partner up and compete for GOLD!

Nigeria is anticipating more GOLD medals.

Another Gold Medal for Nigeria

Mercy Genesis of Nigeria won the gold medal in the women’s 50kg freestyle competition by controlling the bout from beginning to end and showing no mercy to her Egyptian opponent, Nada Mohamed.

Genesis was quite impressive, taking the fight to victory 7-0.

Yet Another Gold Award 

Christiana Ogunsanya has won the women’s 53kg wrestling competition, boarded the GOLD medal train for Nigeria. With an overwhelming 11-0 victory, Ogunsanya outclassed her Ivorian opponent Bakayoko in a one-sided match!

Nigeria Will Get More Gold Medals

In just 24 seconds, Odunayo Adekuoroye triumphed over Zineb Hassoune of Morocco via fall (6-0), earning Nigeria’s third gold medal in women’s wrestling. The 57kg women’s wrestling champion was Adekuoroye.
